Family and Adolescent Therapy

Practical help for families navigating conflict, transitions, and adolescent mental health.

Family and adolescent therapy gives parents and teens a shared space to talk honestly, set boundaries that actually hold, and rebuild trust. We work with the whole system so change lasts beyond a single hard conversation.

By the time most families reach out, everyone is tired. Parents feel dismissed, teens feel misunderstood, and the same argument has been playing on loop for months. We slow the room down so real communication becomes possible again.

Adolescents are not small adults, and they are not children anymore. They need therapy that respects their intelligence, protects their privacy, and still keeps parents appropriately involved. We hold that line carefully.

Family sessions are structured, not free for all. We set a goal for each meeting, keep the harder conversations from spiraling, and give every member of the family a chance to be heard.

Our Approach

Structured family sessions

Each meeting has a clear focus so time together is productive, not just another argument in a new setting.

Individual work for the teen

Adolescents get their own space to think, feel, and figure out who they are becoming.

Parent coaching

Separate parent sessions to strengthen limits, repair connection, and coordinate strategy between caregivers.

System coordination

With your permission, we work with schools, pediatricians, and prescribers so everyone is rowing the same direction.

Frequently Asked

At what age do you see adolescents?

We typically see teens ages 12 and up. Younger children are seen with parents actively involved in every session.

Do you coordinate with schools?

Yes, with signed authorization from parents and, when appropriate, the teen.

What stays confidential between you and my teen?

Day to day content stays private. Safety concerns, self harm, and abuse are always shared with parents. We explain this clearly to the teen in session one.

Can we start with just parent sessions?

Yes. Parent coaching alone often shifts the whole household, even before the teen ever comes in.
